Description

Today is my cat's birthday... YES. I can't believe she's 7 already. Sad dummy It felt like just yesterday I celebrated her 3rd birthday... And I call her a baby every single day still. Maybe I should tell you the story behind Bessie. (Images belong to clipart.com, they aren't the property of DeviantArt, therefore I don't know how to give them credit. :|)

I'm sure a lot of you like dogs... I'd like a dog too, but my mother says "We aren't home enough, so let's get a cat." Roll Eyes That's a pretty lame excuse considering we're almost ALWAYS home. Nowadays, her excuse is that Bessie is better off being an only pet. SHE GETS ALONG WITH DOGS JUST FINE! Rage No, I disagree!

Whatever... She's actually a really fun cat. :) Now, I'll tell you how I got her.

Back in January of 2010, my old cat, Jordan, had passed away. Jordan's whole body was almost covered in black and she had yellow-green eyes. Despite getting slower because of old age, my little brother (and only sibling), Jake, and I LOVED to play with her. We used to do this thing on Halloween called J-buddies, chat, and eat candy with our cat by the steps. Jenna. Jake. Jordan. We also used to go into the laundry room, do shadow puppets, play Flashlight with Jordan, and pretend that we save Santa, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc... :P (I know it sounds childish, but I was 8- back then).

One day, my cat Jordan had problems walking up the steps and peed all over her paws. Lonely (SO SORRY YOU HAD TO READ THAT!) My father decided to take her to the vet while my mother took Jake and I to swim lessons. I didn't want to go with my mom, because I was concerned about my cat. Dad assured me she'd be okay and that we go to swim lessons.

When we came back after an hour, dad was back. I looked around a bit and didn't see Jordan in any of her normal places. "Umm... Dad, where's Jordan?" I asked. "Jordan passed away at the vet." My dad replied. He showed me her very LAST picture before Jordan had passed away. :(

Jordan was 19 when she passed which is actually pretty good for a cat. :) But the house was WAY too quiet without Jordan's loud, deep meows there that right away I told my parents I wanted a new cat. My mom said it needed time, but only a month later... We found the cutest Love, bestest cat ever. Meow :3

On Petco's online website, I found a male cat that I really liked and we almost could've got that cat if I hadn't changed my mind that I wanted to go there a day earlier.

When we went there, there was only four cats on display. I was 8 and my brother was 4. My brother REALLY loved the color orange back then, so course he wanted the first orange cat he saw. Right away, my dad disagreed. We passed by another orange cat and looked at a pure grey cat with sky blue eyes, Gracie. Gracie was 2, so she was already full-grown. My family and I liked this cat, but my mom suggested we keep looking and if we don't want any cats here today, we could come back tomorrow.

The very last cat we saw was Bessie. She was named that because her breed is the Holstein cow cat. Right away, I looked into her grass green eyes and knew that she was the one. The  man who'd raised Bessie knew she LOVED sleeping on beds, was very playful, loved attention, etc...

I didn't like waiting there and listening to a boring, Fluttershy (yawn) plz adult conversation. Eventually, the man boxed Bessie up so we could take her home since my family had all agreed to take her in.

On the ride home, Bessie wouldn't stop meowing (or squeaking for this kitten's matter :P). My brother and I couldn't help it... Her meows sounded funny to us, SO WE LAUGHED. My mom told us to stop or we'd go to bed early. Oh yeah, that got us to stop! Giggle

I felt bad for Bessie even though her meows sounded funny. :( She was scared. Bessie had a twin sister called Henrietta and they were both found under a porch. Originally, Bessie was going to be sold together with her sister, but she wasn't.

I know for sure that I wouldn't want to be separated from my brother (or the rest of my family for that matter). To this day, I still feel bad that I laughed at the poor thing. Sad dummy

Bessie was scared at first and hid behind the washing machine. It took her a few weeks to get used to everything.

It's almost been 7 years since we got her, and... I can't believe that in about 3 or 4 years, I'll be an adult. :|

Bessie is just the cutest thing and if you knew her in real life, you'd agree. Meow :3 She's still like a playful kitten, she naps a lot nowadays, but she LOVES attention. She's also VERY funny. :giggle: She rarely scratches anyone. She's harmless and very nice. ;) Bessie loves kids. Every year on Halloween night, she can't help but stand by the door to help with the candy.

However, the only time Bessie did scratch me was on my 13th birthday. :| She was only scared of something and it was accidental, yet quite a coincidence. I always joke with my friends that she doesn't like teenagers. ;P (Nah, she still loves me. ;) But sometimes Jake and I still scare her, because we're weird. XD)

I hope you wish her a happy 7th birthday... My brother and I feel old just pointing at her and saying, "SEVEN!"  Sweating a little...

(Also, I was originally going to name Bessie Jordan Jr.) XD
